My approach
I focus on what inner movement is happening in the client that has an effect
in the here and now. The here and now is my departure point. During the proc-
ess that starts from here, I pay attention to, amongst others, the following
points of interest.
- Clarifying: What is this actually about? What is the
core issue in all that is
going on? What is the question behind the question? What is the longing or
knowing that lies hidden in the question?
- Subpersonalities: Many of those coming to me feel they are caught up in
situations or patterns that bother them — or those around them. Often our
parts or subpersonalitities play a role in this. Some of these parts are pro-
minently present and take a lot of space. Others do not partake in this or
play only a minor role. By working with these subpersonalitities and by ex-
periencing them, things begin to move, and a new balance and a wider
range of choice begin to emerge.
- Polarities: Often people,
as it were, walk on only one leg, for example,
a person is predominantly rational or accommodating. The other leg, the
other side of the polarity, is not involved. In this example that might be
